For a growing teenager, sexual themes in everyday conversation were covert.  Before society became "permissive", contraceptives were skimpily advertised and not openly available.   This is one man's gratifying jaunt through life with famous names and smidgens of history scattered along the way.  His story indulges the romantic, is often erotic, occasionally irreverent and sometimes inconceivable.   When Stephen met the girl of his dreams in 1963 envious friends warned he would be 'consumed' by this voluptuous young woman and blown out in bubbles!  But he survived numerous 'consummations' to tell this tale of romance, having swelled the vanguard of the 'Swinging Sixties'.   During forty three years in broadcast television he often encountered celebrities, cherishing one meeting with the actress Joan Collins, only to be dejected by his grandchildren's response:  "Who on earth was Joan Collins?"
